Planet Positive

We are thrilled to announce that Abbey has officially gone green! We’ve received Planet positive accreditation – an award-winning mark earned for considerable environmental achievement.

Planet Positive

Our staff know that man-made climate change is a reality and it is getting worse, so we decided the time was right to recognise our collective responsibility and do something about it. The Planet Positive mark signifies that we are making annual reductions to our carbon footprint and are offsetting the remainder by 110%.

With the help of dcarbon8, we have measured and verified a positive impact on the planet, its ecosystems, and its people. As emissions regulation tightens and public consciousness of climate change increases, knowing the extent of our carbon footprint and taking strides to manage and reduce it are imperative.

Achieving Planet Positive status is just the beginning for us – we will now be focusing on reducing our carbon footprint.

How?

Working with Environmental Resources Management (ERM), the world’s largest environmental consultancy, Planet Positive have produced transparent and precise protocols for footprint measurement, reduction and offsetting. “We are delighted that through the Planet Positive scheme, Abbey Business Equipment is able to make a positive environmental statement.”

The Planet Positive accreditation system is a mechanism for businesses like us to work together for a common goal: ensuring actions have a long term positive effect upon the environment, making good the damage done by past centuries of consumption and harmful emissions.

Recycling

At Abbey we are committed to helping create a sustainable future. We have teamed up with the UK’s leading office furniture manufacturer ‘Senator International’ to offer customers a comprehensive recycling service to remove packaging and redundant office furniture from our client’s premises to coincide with the installation of their new products.

All recyclable production waste and packaging is collected and recycled at one of Senator's two recycling hubs, while unwanted office furniture is collected and transported to the other where it is stripped down and recycled.

This service enables us to play our part in reducing the 150,000 tonnes of office furniture which is unnecessarily sent to landfill every year.
